Control-flow applicators were first used in the 1960’s to deliver liquid products to targeted surfaces. The nature of the invention was such that gravity was needed to deliver the product to the applicator. With both glass and plastic bottles dominating the market even through the early 90’s, there was little need for new technology.
Once plastic and laminated tubes became attractive in the market for products defined as creams, lotions and gels, it became feasible to consider this type of dispensing system for tubes as well. Because the user can propel the product to the applicator by squeezing the tube, and because of the versatility of
the applicator to deliver a very wide range of viscosities from
water to heavy creams and gels, marketers can now consider this new delivery system.
In cooperation with Berry Plastics’ Tube Products Division, we now have the capability to offer three sizes of applicators for use with plastic or laminated tubes. Capacity sizes range from Tubed Plastics’ ½ inch tube for our 15mm applicator to their 1 3/8 inch and 2 inch tubes with our 24mm Tube applicator. Between the two, product capacity can range from ½ ounce to 8 ounces. And our patented oval applicator, now in the pilot stage of development, will target products requiring a broader surface area for dispensing their products.
If you’re marketing a liquid or gel deodorant, depilatories, anti-acne creams, arthritic pain creams, germ killers, anti-itch remedy, sun tan lotions and sun less lotions or any other product that could benefit from a targeted dispensing system, this is the applicator for you to consider.
